Talin my little boy – happy birthday to you! I cannot believe you are 5 years old. Where does the time go! So I thought I’d update your blog posting
finally and talk a little bit about the great little boy you are growing up to
me and talk about your birthday.
First – you actually get two birthdays – one was held on May
10th at our house with your school friends. It was a wonderful spring day and the family
came over as well and your friends Case and Michael and many others were on
hand. You went with daddy in the morning
to pickup your batman cake and balloons and ate Cherries on the way home – but
when we got home, your eye puffed up like a baseball from pollen
allergies. You really suffered this year
with allergies Talin – it’s been really tough for some reason. But you were determined to have a great
time. You bounced in the bouncey and
daddy would change you and your friends inside the bouncy. There is one scene I have in my head of all
these toddlers on top of me – and me having to run out because I couldn’t keep
up with you all! We also had a slack
line and you and all the birthday kids took turns walking a 50 foot slack
time. You also drove the cards around
and would run around with pretend swords playing some sort of game of
knights. You chose to be one of the
runners, running around the yard. We
then ate pizza, kabobs and had an awesome birthday cake. You were so cute with the big smile you had
on your face when you blew out the cake.
Mommy and I both loved being there for your birthday and watching your
happiness Talin. Your happiness is
really so important to mommy and daddy.
And the one thing that brings tears to my eyes is to see just how
amazingly helpful and polite you are for your age. You thanked Nana Judy and gradma and mommy
for the wonderful presents, the party – you’re always express so much gratitude
Talin. It’s such a great way to be in
life – to be thankful for the best gifts that we have in life. I know mommy and I feel that you are one of
the greatest gifts we will ever have in life.
Thank you for being our sun, and such an incredible son. Daddy is very proud of you Talin. We get to have one more birthday adventure
this week when you, your brother and sister and mommy all fly to Los Angeles to
meet daddy for his conference and then go to universal studios! It’s going to be so much fun.
In terms of other fun – a couple of other awesome little
trips recently. First one was that we went for Easter to grandma’s house –
where you all were plied with tons of candy!
We had such a great time and you all played outside on the bicycles and
would go out to the pond. Daddy put his hand in the pond and all of these fish
came and tried to eat his finger J! We took so many walks and even walked all
around the ditch. It was so interesting
to see you, Rohin and Aeowyn be so excited to walk on that ditch and to jump
across, or explore the things inside of it.
The interesting thing is that I had forgotten that I had done that when
I was child—and spent many hours doing so.
It was magical to live that with you.
We also walked back to the imaginary fort I had in the woods across from
grandma’s house. You will see that when
you get older, being able to share those special childhood memories with you
all – is like reliving childhood again.
It’s so incredibly special. We
closed out our easter weekend by doing a big easter egg hunt – which you all
did awesome at! Thank you gradma for
putting those easter eggs together.
Next up was a trip with grandma and grandpa to
Warrenton. We started in Middleburg and
ate a little inn for lunch and met uncle Dow and your cousin Violet. We then drove out to two wineries where you
all played until the rain came in. We
then went down to the house located on a incredible farm -- it was part of an old estate. Our house was built in 1875 as the tennant
house (and it was big) and the original houses, which we didn’t stay in, was
built in 1728. It was such an unusual
house on a working farm – but was so beautiaful. You all loved to explore the house and all
the little nooks. The view was
incredible. We especially loved sitting
in the “zebra” room, an inside patio with 180 degree views of pasture and
forest. Mommy and daddy would sit there
with grandma and grandpa and you all in the evenings while you all would
play. On this patio, it was said tha the
Dutchess of York and JFK even sat for tea.
The house had incredible designs of wagon wheels and grist mills, a
design of the late Ms. Windmill who lived there (who loved horses). We explored the farm – you all loved the
chicken. We also went over and saw the
piglets – but you went with me by yourself Talin to see the big hogs one
morning – I had such a delightful conversation with you while we walked. The second day we went to Ticonderoga farms
where you all played your hearts out on the slide and the bamboo maze and then
came home, had a great dinner and off to sleep and left the next morning.
Hershey trip was so fun too.
We met up with Venna and Ahmeet and Pooja and Parm and their families in
a house on the Susquehanna, river. We
were literally so close to the river you could throw a ball off the deck into
it. We loved being on the deck and you
all played so nicely together with all of your friends. You were so excited about the climbing trees
and being able to sleep upstairs in the attic.
During the day, we traveled up to Hershey park and had so much fun. The
first day we did chocolate world again and you all love that little ride that
talked about how chocolate was made. We
also did a chocolate tasting! The second day, we did many many rides. Rohin really like the roller coasters, you
and Aeowyn like some of the smaller rides, but did one roller coaster too. I think the highlight for you was riding in
the trucks and then getting to play a transformer video game – you were so
excited! It was so adorable to see.
Anyhow my little boy, that’s where we are in this moment of
life. As your father, I just want to say
a few things Talin. Time goes by so
incredibly fast, and the greatest joy of my life is being a parent to you and
your brother and sister. You guys are
incredibly hard work sometimes, but it’s the best job I’ve ever had J. I hope in life, as you moved to 6,7,8+ that
you will always remember the importance and love of family. Family is our glue,
it binds us together. It is forgiving
and never holds grudges. Our family, has
been my rock and my support in my life and I hope it is the same for you my
son. Hold onto life tightly, see
everyday as a gift, and make a difference – not only in big things, but in
little things. Our purpose here on Earth
is to leave the place at least a little nicer than when we found it. You’ve made me very proud Talin – and I love
you so much. Happy birthday T.
Love-Daddy
